I remember thinking that I would never let them in my home, because I was too afraid I would get Hildi, and with some of the others, you just didn’t know what you would get!! Thanks for the memories. The only thing more exciting than the news of Trading Spaces coming back is the possibility of being cast on the reboot. After that show I couldn’t watch another one with him in it. Wow! Can you imagine trying to salvage those plaster walls covered in straw or, like you mentioned, having to completely re-do the drywall on that flower bathroom? Designer Doug Wilson was another one you could count on to mess up a perfectly nice room. Every time I look at the Houzz app it reminds me of him and the show. I think the homeowners might have been pissed about that, too. Sadly, I never watch TLC anymore, as it has become more of a freak show than a learning channel. I wish I could find photos or the video of that one. Won’t be able to sleep tonight. We all have fond memories of watching Trading Spaces, and many have thought this was the first show to focus on home design and renovation, but this is not the case. The plot is actually based on a British show called Changing Rooms, which aired on BBC from 1996 to 2004. I loved Trading Spaces and Alex way more than Page. I don’t remember The Prisoner of Love Show. I watched videos of the show on TLC.com to get these screenshots. The one that really stood out in my memory was the fireplace by Doug, who I dubbed “Smug Doug” because of his condescending and ugly attitude toward his crying victim (the homeowner.) I was a BIG fan, and got my husband to watch it too. She also covered a room entirely in cardboard! You and your friend have won the contest to create your own dream bedroom. Hildi was a master at making mischief like that, wasn’t she? She outlined white squares all over the room. Paige was very sweet, too. $2000. You forgot her pink feather room. Bathroom … 34. I actually really liked Doug’s “fireplace room” and hope it grew on the owners…it was a huge improvement over what it had been. I remember the Doug/fireplace episode. I forgot just how bad some of these rooms turned out… I totally remember watching the upside down room thinking how bizarre it was – and that was when I was maybe 12 years old? Oh Horrors! Oh, my. The famous interior design couple, and stars of Nate and Jeremiah By Design, will appear on Trading Spaces as guest designers. Yes! 2 rooms. I felt so sorry for some of these couples. The one couple wanted a country room so he literally puts the word "country" on the wall and then makes a lamp out of vinyl record covers - making it all look like an aisle at Walmart. I remember the home owner crying. As for Trading Spaces, I always liked Frank. I like circles.”, Owner’s review: “Am I in the same room? And then I began watching countless other home design shows that exist, at least in part, because of "Trading Spaces." What a disaster! Trading Spaces. She also covered a room entirely in cardboard! Ugh. I watch Trading Spaces alll the time. Oh, wow, I don’t remember that one……..but there were/are plenty of other awful ones! I also loved that show. All I could think while watching it was how awful it was going to be to repair the damage to those walls… Hildi was AWFUL. She was the original mood board creator! That still stands out as one of the worst designs I’ve ever seen! This was a favorite show, still miss it. My vote for some of the worst rooms was the college fraternity makeover that Doug did and the bedroom makeover by Frank where the headboard was a giant pair of lips!!! If you’re bored in your house and considering redoing things, take these pics as a warning. They only thing they asked? I haven't seen the hay show so i can only choose between feathers and cardboard.
