George C. Clymer was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on March 16, 1739, to Christopher Clymer and Deborah Fitzwater. George Clymer died January 23rd, 1813, after a brief illness, at the home of his son Henry, and laid to rest in a Quaker burial ground near Trenton. He was one of the first Patriots to promote and support the idea of complete independence from the throne in Britain. George Clymer died in 1813 at the age of 73. After the war, Clymer served in the Pennsylvania legislature from 1784 to 1788.
